
Pathways for Migration Skill Assessment
Ever wondered why you need to prepare Competency demonstration report? Here we will discuss various pathways you can take apart from CDR and why it becomes necessary to prepare CDR in most of the cases. There are six pathways for migration skills assessment. These categories come under two main topic, i.e. accredited and non-accredited.

6) Competency Demonstration Report (CDR)
Accredited Qualifications
Accredited Qualification is the Australian and overseas engineering qualifications recognised with formal international agreements. The assessment of Australia and accord accredited qualification is based upon undergraduate qualifications. Some postgraduate qualification has been accredited as a standalone qualification. However, if your undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications are not accredited, then you need to submit the Competency demonstration report (CDR).
Engineers Australia is a signatory to Washington, Dublin, and Sydney Accord. The qualification you provide should be based on the signatory country to be accredited under the Accords.
1) Australian Qualifications
Graduates of accredited Australian engineering programs are eligible for migration skill assessment with Australian Qualification Pathways. The year after Engineers Australia accredits each program. Applicants must have started their studies when the accreditation applies. It is denoted by F, and the provisional accreditation is represented by P. For Provisionally accredited qualification, CDR report is required.
2) Washington Accord Qualifications
The qualification listed as accredited by the relevant signatory will be considered for recognition through the Washington Accord. Accreditation applies for the qualification after the organisation gained signatory status to the Washington Accord. The minimum academic requirement for an assessment can be comparable to the four years of Australian Bachelors degree in the engineering field.
3) Sydney Accord Qualifications
The qualification listed as accredited by the relevant signatory will be considered for recognition through the Sydney Accord. Accreditation applies for the qualification after the organisation gained signatory status to the Sydney Accord. The minimum academic requirement for an assessment can be comparable to the three years of Australian Bachelors degree in the engineering field. The Sydney Accord will be applicable to the engineering degrees accredited by the representative body of the signatory country.
4) Dublin Accord Qualifications
The qualification listed as accredited by the relevant signatory will be considered for recognition through the Dublin Accord. Accreditation applies for the qualification after the organisation gained signatory status to the Dublin Accord. The Dublin Accord will be applicable to the engineering degrees accredited by the representative body of the signatory country. An application under the pathway not accredited to the qualification will not be accepted.
5) Other Recognised Qualifications
Engineers Australia signed an agreement with the French Commission to facilitate the recognition of French engineering degree in Australia. While applying for the pathways online, Washington Accord is to be selected with proper instructions as provided by the official sites.
Non-Accredited qualifications
CDR report comes under non-accredited qualifications. It is undertaken by applicants with undergraduate qualifications. Applicants are required to provide with their application on the nominated occupation of their engineering field. CDR report should reflect your roles and responsibilities in the claimed area as per the ANZSCO standard.
