Short Term Skilled Occupation List – for 2021

Australia’s occupational demand lists, STOL and MLTSSL, list specific occupations that are eligible for permanent residency in Australia under Australia’s permanent and temporary skilled visa programs. Short Term Skilled Occupational Demand List (STSOL) was previously known as Skilled Occupational List (CSOL).

STSOL is a list of highly desirable jobs in Australia. Your job must be on the STSOL list and have a state government invitation/sponsorship if you want to apply for an Australia-sponsored Permanent Residency (subclass 190). This list is also included in the Australia Points system. You can live and work in Australia indefinitely if you meet the qualifications. There are 242 jobs on the list that are now in high demand in Australia.

The government’s most recent need list has been decreased by around 200 jobs. Additionally, 24 STSOL professions (subclass 457 and subclass 186) and the State and Territory Nominated stream of the subclass 489) will now be eligible for employment exclusively in regional Australia (subclass 457 and subclass 186) and the State and Territory Nominated stream of the subclass 489). As a result, check that your chosen occupation is in demand in the Australian labor market before applying for state-nominated visas.

For the following General Skilled Migration visas applicant must have prior work experience in one of the following Short-Term Skilled Occupations:

  • 1. Nominated – Skilled Visa Subclass 190
  • 2. State or Territory nominated – Skilled Regional Provisional subclass 489 Visa.
  • 3. State or Territory nominated – Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa Subclass 491.

Occupations on the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)

The ANZSCO (Australia and New Zealand Skilled Classification of Occupations) has listed the occupations that appear on the Short Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) below to help you determine which visa program may be accessible to you based on your occupation. Your occupation must be on this list if you are applying for a Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (TSS Visa).

This list combines the occupations described in both MLTSSL and STSOL. Check the Combined Skilled Occupational Demand List to see if your chosen profession is available. This list will help you understand your visa category and which visas are available to you based on your nominated field.
